Representative engagements include: highly successful projects such as the development of a complex, scalable e-commerce infrastructure for a music industry B2B web business; organization of merchandising operations for a major national software reseller; creation of an electronic, "virtual trade corridor" between Canada, Mexico, and the US in response to NAFTA for a border state legislature; providing marketing strategy, tactics, and field assistance to major manufacturers of mid-range and workstation systems; providing systems design and implementation services to a national financial services firm; developing an electronic publishing and member service an support system for a major trade association; advising in the design of an on-line customer service and publishing system for a major international technology distribution firm; and designing an interactive trade information and lead distribution system for a start-up information brokerage firm. Additional brief examples of our work include:
- Globe-1: served as a founding Director, advised in the selection of technical consultants to design and develop a B2G e-commerce system, and over a period of several years have advised the founder on technology, organizational, financial and marketing issues key to this exciting start-up in the personalized, proactive business information delivery business;
- Spacelabs Medical: developed the Internet business plan for an on-line service division of this old line medical electronics manufacturing firm;
- Resource Pathways, Inc.: Developed business strategy and plans, and advised founder on a variety of technical and operational issues.
- Sasquatch Publishing: Developed an on-line market assessment of the publishing industry.
- Puget Consumers Coop: analyzed local market conditions, current performance, and positioning, and presented turnaround concepts to the Board of Directors;
- Egghead Software: served as Director of Merchandising, and in less than one year reorganized department, grew volume, and turned around profitability; created the "SKU-the-world" concept of selling all related products that existed in the retail computing industry to Egghead's corporate and government customers.
- Pixel Dust Animation: served as President and a Director, refocused the company into areas of electronic merchandising and entertainment software;
- CANAMEX Trade Corridor: for the State of Arizona, devised and implemented a trade development system using a standards based, distributed data model serving the needs of private sector firms and government agencies in the US, Canada and Mexico. This project formed the basis for the creation of Globe-1, Inc.;
- Sun Microsystems: developed the pioneering concept of a pre-packaged Internet server which became the Netra(, and developed a channel marketing program and support materials such as a White Paper to recruit channel partners;
- Digital Equipment Corporation: completed several projects. These included an in-depth study of tiered distribution program alternatives, development of a segmentation strategy for sales of Alpha Workstations, and advised on the development of their Internet Strategy. Developed recommendations for Digital to enable them to make radical improvements in profits and revenues by selling a higher proportion of their core products through the third party distribution channel;
- Lotus Development Corporation: developed a research project to determine the optimal profile of channel members to better ensure the success of resellers of complex applications such as Lotus Notes;
- Washington Software Association (WSA): developed the Association's ground breaking advance into electronic publishing and member service delivery through on-line technologies, as well as played a major role in the creation of the WSA On-Line Advantage, one of the first business trade shows dedicated to demystifying on-line technologies and their uses;
- Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA): played a leading role while at Egghead in the formulation and adoption of bar coding and Electronic Data Interchange (ANSI X.12) transaction sets for the technology retail community. Later we founded and co-chaired the sub-committee devoted to the creation of product information standards; anticipated the development of XML data glossaries by 4-5 years;
- Maxis: evaluated their information systems needs and then helped them to select and implement new business systems;
- Gulf American Financial Services: created an Information and Communications "Resulting" division to support their financial "turn-around" business;
- McCaw Communications: assisted with the improvement in financial and operations processes and systems, and in so doing generated in excess of one hundred million dollars in free cash from inactive or written off assets and accounts, and reversed the growth of such assets and accounts;
- Cincinnati Bell Information Services: assisted with the analysis, design and development of a sophisticated cellular billing system;
- Thousand Trails: designed and implemented of a critical sales management and field communication system on an "impossible" schedule.
- PACCAR, where we assisted IBM and PACCAR personnel to develop and implement a business computing strategy.
