William Pickard is the President of Pickard & Murphy He has over twenty five years experience in the technology and hardgoods manufacturing and distribution, software, telecommunications, and e-commerce industries as a consultant and senior executive. He is a nationally recognized leader in the area of spontaneous electronic commerce, and speaks frequently on the use of networked applications and services as catalysts for change and as elements in strategic business plans.
He has held senior positions and Directorships in DiscoverMusic.com, KPMG Peat Marwick, Gulf American Financial Services, Egghead Software, Vertical Systems, Pixel Dust Animation, Globe-1, and DiscoverMusic.com. Recent clients include: Globe-1, Spacelabs Medical, Globe-1, Boeing, the State of Arizona, the Asia Pacific Chamber of Commerce, Chemical Processors, Cincinnati Bell Information Systems, Digital Equipment Corporation, Digital Systems International, Egghead Software, Globe 1, Gulf American Financial Services, Lotus Development Corporation, Maxis, McCaw Communications, Merisel, Microsoft, PACCAR, Preservative Paint, Rentrak, Sun Microsystems, the National Housewares Manufacturer's Association, the Pacific Northwest Economic Region, and the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.
He is a founder of the Computing Technology Industry Association's Product Data Standards Task Force. A member of the Washington Software Association since 1992, he served as co-chair of the Industry Information Committee for 1995-6, was instrumental in the development of the Association's highly successful On-Line Advantage Shows, chaired the On-Line Services Sub Committee, and served as the principal architect of the WSA's push into electronic publishing services for the membership through the Internet. He was also the WSA representative on the Governor's Task Force on Telecommunications Policy, and has spoken at numerous regional and national conferences on the subject of data standards and spontaneous electronic commerce, and on using on-line technology to gain a competitive advantage.
Mr. Pickard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Dartmouth College, and an Master of Business Administration from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
